Au revoir, Québec!

In Québec, we are very lucky: we are not far from the water. So, what a treat to have our final ceremony on a boat. It was an evening filled with emotions: realizing it is over, finally speaking English, but also discovering Québec from another angle, leaving new friends and so much more.

Thank you, Québec for welcoming us a second time and giving us all the opportunity to discover French and French culture outside of France. However, it is not adieu, it is à tantôt and just the first steps of a lifetime bilingual life.

School's out!

Alas, the day has come: the last day of school!

Today marks the final day of classes for both classes—and, more notably, the last full day of the Language Pledge®! Tomorrow, in the evening, the students will be authorized, once and for all, to speak English—without any consequences!

For the Chinese Academy, classes were as you would expect them to be on the last day: fun, entertaining and easy. While most classes took the day to relax, there were a few classes still covering curriculum. However, the lessons weren’t dense, in any form.

STAMP DAY

The storm has come: testing began today!

For the Chinese Academy, today was their test day, in which all students took the STAMP Assessment. In various tech labs across the campus, the students were set up on computers to take the assessment—and, thankfully, everyone completed it, successfully!

The French Academy, on the other hand, has its testing tomorrow morning. So, the students had one final “regular” day, in which the routine set of classes were completed, along with the afternoon activities with REs.

“IF YOU WANNA MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE TAKE A LOOK AT YOURSELF AND MAKE A CHANGE!”

In level 4 Academic classes we have been discussing very deep and challenging topics in the last couple of weeks.

Mudejar Art: A Cultural Exploration Class

During the past two weeks, students at the academy who took the Mudejar ceramics class learned about Mudéjar art, a style that is native and unique to the history of Spain, and a meeting point between Christianity and Islam. Mudéjar refers to the Muslims who continued to practice their religion and their customs in the territories that became part of Christian dominions such as Granada, the last Moorish bastion in Spain before the Spanish Reconquest in 1492. The materials, techniques, and formal elements of Islamic artistic work left their stamp on the architecture of Spain.

The Final Days

A cultivation of language and communication skills has been in the process for over three weeks. And now, the final days of the program are upon the students—all of whom have dedicated themselves intellectually, day in and day out.

Due to the approaching conclusion, teachers have been slowing the classes down, allowing students to taper their minds in the days before their final exam, which is otherwise known as the “STAMP Assessment.”
