A Little Volunteer Work, a Little Science
What the Granada Academy did today:
Today the Granada Academy got back out into the community.
Similar to our last cultural exploration day, instead of class sessions, half of the Granada Academy went to the Parque de las Ciencias, and the other half did some community work with Formación Combonianos.
Those who went to the Parque de las Ciencias explored many different exhibits, but the highlight for the students was the BioDome. The BioDome showcases the earth’s biodiversity with more than 250 species of animals and plants!
Those who worked with Formación Combonianos continued the work of the last group, chipping away at the huge feat of cleaning a school that had been abandoned for 15 years, and that will reopen to host immigrants in need.
After lunch, RA Cova led another optional grammar workshop, and Pilar’s class attended the language exchange with the English class. Today’s conversation was a continuation of differences and similarities in the food industries of the US and Spain.
In the afternoon students were busy with workshops and tours! The Academy had activities such as a belly dancing class, an indie tour of the vintage shops of Granada, a walk to Carmen de los Martires, a cooking class, and lots more!
After the Granada Academy finished up with their activities, instead of eating dinner in the colegio, students had free time in the city to go out for tapas. Students were provided with a list of recommendations, such as Los Diamantes, known for its fish tapas, and La Riviera, which has a reputation for its large tapas!
All students returned to the colegio with full bellies, and ready for what tomorrow has in store!
