Friday at the Chinese Academy!
Location: Saint Michael’s College
What the Chinese Academy did today: Another awesome day of classes for the Chinese Academy! The students participated in regular programming and kicked off the weekend with a relaxing movie night. Tomorrow, they will travel to Albany and taste authentic Chinese food, try boba tea, and enjoy each other’s company. On Sunday, they will attend another fantastic dance –– one of their last at the Academy!
In today’s classrooms…
Level 1 students practiced “describing what I wear in each season and for different occasions.” They watched a video of the Red Carpet Show 2016 in Taiwan, then practiced designing their own outfits.
Level 2 students identified social do’s and don’ts in target countries, such as presenting gifts or paying a visit to a friend’s home!
Our Level 3 students worked on “giving short presentations in which they can describe several city attractions” by watching tourist videos, creating posters, and sharing with the class.
Finally, in our Level 4 classes, students “reflected on how the language and cultural knowledge acquired at the Academy will impact their plans for the future.” They discussed housing, traditions, family, and social values.
We’re looking forward to a fun weekend and our final week of classes!
