Food and Culinary Exploration Week: Projects, Songs and Roleplays; an Art Workshop & More
What the Salamanca Academy did today: In this morning’s assembly, mentors informed students about our field trip to La Alberca and made sure they had all of the information needed before we take off tomorrow morning. Afterwards, students spent the morning in Spanish and Cultural Exploration Class.
During the afternoon, they attended our Academic Assembly and presented songs, roleplays and projects that they had worked on with our Spanish teachers. This week’s theme was “Food and Culinary Exploration”, so students discussed the differences in food culture between America and Spain, among other things. They also spoke about what they have learned so far and showed gratitude towards their experience. Then, they proceeded to individually check in with the mentors and talk about their week in the academy. While students were taking turns to check in with the mentors, the rest snacked and played basketball in the school’s court.
Later on, students had four sign-up activities to choose from: grammar club, board games, frisbee or an art workshop, during which they showed their artistic skills working with portraits of themselves.
